Don and Janette

Janette:
Hi, my name is Janette, and this is my partner, Don. I have been a client of Ben’s since mid-2021, and I moved with him across to Cosgrove at the end of last year (2024).

When I first spoke to Ben, I had a view that I wanted to save as much money as possible to transfer to my children. After talking to Ben, it was much more about enjoying my life and what I wanted to get out of it; maybe even enjoying my money with my children while I can.

Don:
I also had some bucket list items of my own that I wanted to complete, and it was important to understand whether I could afford to do them. One I’ve recently ticked off is riding my motorcycle across the United States; it was fantastic to have the time to complete it.

Janette:
We do have a shared journey, but we are separate as well. So, we have our individual goals and aspirations of what we want to do with our individual pots, but we still come together at the end because we do things together and want to spend time together. It’s just making sure that we can both afford to do that and still do the things that we want to do as individuals.

Don:
It was really important for me to build a relationship based on trust with Ben. He took a genuine interest in our lives and understood what we wanted to do together and as individuals. I’m sure this will benefit us in our long-term relationship with Ben and Cosgrove.

Janette:
I sat down with Ben and worked out how much I need each year, how much I want, and what I want to do with it. What our bucket lists are, as individuals and together. By setting out a plan for me and working together, it shows me that I can do a lot more than I thought originally. It is really important to me to see those figures laid out clearly. It’s been an absolute joy for me.

Don:
The words I’d use to describe Ben are personable, trustworthy, and loyal.

Janette:
The best piece of advice we’ve had from Ben was about enjoying life. You never know what’s around the corner, and as I’m in a fortunate position to do that, his advice has changed my mindset to enjoy life as much as possible.

Don:
The best thing about working with Ben is the personal relationship that we’ve both built with him. It makes financial planning so much easier and even enjoyable.
